This November, storm water professionals, construction industry leaders, and environmental vendors will come together for the Hawaii Department of Transportation’s (HDOT) 10th annual Protect Our Water Conference! This training event offers opportunities to learn about new storm water regulations, updated procedures, common site issues, and the latest technologies that help to protect our waters. The conference will be held at The Salvation Army Kroc Center Hawaii on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. While registration is now closed, sessions will be recorded and available to view on our YouTube channel after the event.
As the agency responsible for planning, designing, and constructing state transportation facilities and managing storm water pollution, HDOT is committed to environmental stewardship and provides training for both its staff and project partners. Training at the Protect Our Water Conference focuses on reducing the discharge of pollutants from construction activities and complying with current storm water rules and regulations.
HDOT has a comprehensive construction site runoff control program to minimize the discharge of pollutants from construction activities on state highways. Events like the annual Protect Our Water Conference help contractors and designers stay informed about the latest best management practices that mitigate environmental harm while reducing costly damage.
Our website offers valuable resources for designers and contractors on site management, erosion control, sediment control, and more. These tools ensure that all stakeholders are up to date on the plans and permits necessary to keep our waters clean.
Mahalo for joining our efforts to protect our water!
