2023 Q3: AAH-030, The Opala Pickers
Congratulations to Oahu District’s Third Quarter 2023 Adopt-A-Highway Champion, the Opala Pickers! The group is comprised of volunteers from the Platt ‘ohana, who wanted to make a positive impact within their community.
“I believe the importance of community service helps to raise awareness of the current issues around us and teaches an individual the values of kindness, selflessness, dedication and hard work,” said Opala Pickers’ leader, Brandi Platt. “Overall, it helps to make a difference in our world. Like the saying goes, ‘Do better, be better.’”
The group holds regular cleanups to maintain route AAH-030, the two-mile stretch from Salt Lake Boulevard to Fernridge Place. The Opala Pickers believe it is important to keep our roads clean to prevent injuries and ensure a healthy environment.
We extend our sincerest mahalo to the Opala Pickers and the rest of our AAH participants for their amazing efforts to keep Hawaii clean!
