We are excited to announce the Rotary Club of Kapolei Sunset (AAH-069) as the Oahu District’s Fourth Quarter 2022 Adopt-A-Highway Champion. Their route is a two-mile stretch along Farrington Highway between Kapolei Commons and Koolina that accumulates a significant amount of bulky trash. The group previously received the AAH Champion title in 2017 and has remained steadfast in its commitment to keeping our roads clear. As a participating member of the Department of Transportation’s Adopt-A-Highway program for over five years, the organization serves as an inspiration and role model to others looking to make a difference within their community.
“Adopt-A-Highway is our chance to show others how Rotarians are ‘People of Action.’ Where others see problems, we see solutions,” said Lani Bergtrom, treasurer and president-elect for the Rotary Club of Kapolei Sunset. “Adopt-A-Highway is one of the hands-on tools educating our community members about our environment. Our participants learn to understand and appreciate the impact of trash, even on one small stretch of an Oahu highway.”
The Rotary Club of Kapolei Sunset is a chapter of Rotary International, the world’s first service club organization with more the 1.2 million members in 35,000 clubs worldwide. Rotary club members are volunteers who work locally, regionally and internationally to improve their communities.
